In statements to local media, Thanh Son pointed out that the Vietnamese president’s meetings with his Cuban counterpart first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, and with other local leaders, yielded the expected results.
In this regard, he highlighted the issuing of a Joint Declaration, the signing of the Action Plan to implement the 2021-2025 Economic Agenda and numerous documents and cooperation agreements in the fields of agriculture, health care, justice, information and communication, energy and tourism.
In a special way, he thanked Cuba for its commitment to supplying Vietnam with 10 million doses of the Abdala Covid-19 vaccine and to transfer technology for its production here. He further confirmed that the first million doses are already on their way to Hanoi.
Referring to mutual support against Covid-19, the diplomat recalled that since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Communist Party, the State and the people of Vietnam, despite their own many difficulties, have donated 23,000 tons of rice to Cuba, including 6,000 tons during Xuan Phuc’s visit, as well as medical equipment and supplies.
