Several media, plus many citizens on digital platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram, support the recent statement and defend Ethiopia’s right to resolve its affairs without foreign interference.

On Thursday, during a press briefing, in response to a question about an executive order signed by US President Joe Biden, the Chinese spokesperson noted that the state-to-state relations must adhere to the international law and basic norms.

China opposes to the deliberate pressure, through executive orders or the threat of imposing sanctions, to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, said Lijian, whose statement was also released by Ethiopian residents abroad.

He also urged the US Government to prudently handle the issues related to Ethiopia and carry out constructive efforts in restoring the legislative order and security in the nation.
