According to an official communique, TPLF forces sabotaged, looted and destroyed the Kobo-Girana pressurized irrigation development project, located in the northern Wollo Zone of Amhara, causing the exodus of most of the farmers.
As a consequence of the criminal act, all the irrigation facilities, which were built to help irrigate more than 2,000 hectares in that locality, ceased to operate completely, the text states.
With this project, the document adds, thousands of people had the possibility of guaranteeing food security for their families, because the conditions were created so that they can sow vegetables, fruits and other crops, and bring the harvests smoothly to the markets.
After the notification, and during a public appearance, Tigray Agriculture Bureau deputy director Abebaw Getu accused the TPLF of displaying civilians, and announced that ‘the project will be restored when the terrorist group is defeated.’
