Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, asking to accept Shaheen’s nomination, Pajhwok news agency reported.

According to the source, Muttaqi asked to speak during the annual high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly.

Following the Taliban’s takeover, Afghanistan is facing a humanitarian crisis and is in desperate need of international assistance.
