Pardo Guerra met with the government authorities and the Communist Party of this city, the capital of the central Cuban province of Villa Clara, to analyze the region’s preparation in these months of threats of tropical hurricanes.
He learned about the current state of all 12 dams in the province, which have sufficient capacity to assimilate the rains to be brought by possible hurricanes, in addition to the discharge mechanisms being in good condition.
The head of the Civil Defense was briefed about the vulnerable areas in the city before the onslaught of natural phenomena.
The president of the People’s Power Assembly in Santa Clara, Omani Garcia, noted the programs to protect some 23,000 people in case of disasters, for whom there are about 60 evacuation centers that have been prepared and protected with the health measures necessary in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pardo Guerra was interested in the complex epidemiological situation in Villa Clara, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which maintains an incidence rate of 1,154.02 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
