On his Twitter account the Rodriguez commented on some details of his meeting with the Vietnamese diplomat, within the framework of the high-level segment of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Both officials addressed the role of the two foreign ministries ‘in promoting the endearing historic ties that unite us,’ Rodriguez wrote.

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc ended a three-day official visit to Cuba on Monday, during which he met with his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Diaz-Canel, as well as with business people, activists and scientists.

Army General Raul Castro received the Vietnamese head of State and both agreed on the strong relations that unite the two nations.

Diaz-Canel decorated Nguyen Xuan Phuc with the Jose Marti Order, the highest decoration granted by Cuba.

In the context of the visit, Cuba and Vietnam signed several collaboration agreements in areas such as the economy, the food industry, health, communications, the production and supply of vaccines, among others.
