Cuba condemns apologia of hatred and bigotry at UN

United Nations, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Wednesday said that Cuba condemns the apologia of hatred and the promotion of bigotry, a position he upheld at the United Nations General Assembly.

On his Twitter account, he wrote that Cuba also condemns xenophobia and supremacist ideas based on national, religious or ethnic origin.

Rodriguez is participating onsite in the high-level meeting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action against racism, an event in which Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel will speak virtually.

The head of State will address the meeting as part of the round table on those documents, which propose concrete measures against those scourges.

UN member States approved those documents during the World Conference against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and bigotry, held in Durban, South Africa, from August 31 to September 8, 2001.

The Declaration summarizes the commitment resulting from the world dialogue on this issue, whereas the Programme of Action is a guide that shows the way in which the international community will abide by what has been proposed and indicates the measures that must be taken.
