Palestine accuses Israel of hindering peace

Ramallah, Sept 21 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh denounced that the Israeli government's agenda seeks to expand its settlements, seize other lands and abolish the geographical base of a future State for his people.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s refusal to meet with President Mahmoud Abbas, resume peace negotiations and create a Palestinian State shows that he is not interested in peace, Shtayyeh said at a meeting with the cabinet.

Given this situation, the official called on the international community to take actions to curb Tel Aviv’s agenda.

Last month, during his visit to the United States, Bennett expressed his refusal to meet with Palestinian top leaders and create a State for that people.

Known for his right-wing and ultranationalist positions, the leader of the Yamina party told The New York Times that there would be no solution to the conflict in the foreseeable future.

A week later, the prime minister ratified his stance during a video conference with leaders of Jewish-American organizations.

He justified his position based on Abbas’s decision to support the investigations carried out by the International Criminal Court into the crimes committed by Tel Aviv in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including eastern Jerusalem.
