According to an official communique from the Egyptian armed forces, the two officials also discussed regional and international issues.
During a meeting held in Cairo on Monday, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reiterated his support for a negotiated solution to the war in Yemen, where two-thirds of the population need humanitarian assistance.
El-Sisi emphasized his Government’s position in support to efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in that nation, which satisfies the aspirations of the Yemeni people, Egyptian presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said.
According to the latest UN report, some 21 million people in that country, two-thirds of the total, need humanitarian assistance, included 11 million children.
The armed conflict in Yemen has killed and injured thousands of civilian, displaced 4.4 million and left 13 million poor.
