The president’s statements came during a meeting with Yemeni Defense Minister Mohammed Ali Al Maqdashi, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.
El Sissi stressed Cairo’s position in support of the efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in that nation, meeting the aspirations of the Yemeni people, the press release added.
For his part, Al Maqdashi praised bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in military and security matters.
According to the latest United Nations report, published in December 2020, 21 million Yemenis, two-thirds of the population, including 11 million children, need humanitarian aid.
The armed conflict has killed and injured thousands of people, in addition 4.4 million who have been displaced and 13 million are poor. jg/mgt/rob
