The approval was decreed by the government of Vietnam by request of the Center of Research and Production of Vaccines and Medical Biological Products.
The announcement coincided with the visit of the President of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, at the head of a delegation tasked with conducting negotiations for the supply of Abdala, one of five vaccine candidates produced in Cuba.
Xuan Phuc and his Cuban counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel spoke about this by phone days ago as well as regarding the transfer of technology to produce the vaccine in Vietnam.
According to the Vietnamese press, the Department of Pharmaceutical Management of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam is responsible for authorizing the import of the vaccine.
It will be up to the Department of Science, Technology and Training of the Ministry to select the qualified entities that will be tasked with assessing the security and effectiveness of the vaccine, with assistance from the Advising Council on the usage of medical biological products.
The Department of Preventive Medicine will, on its part, be responsible for administering the vaccine, and the National Institute of Vaccine Tests will verify and certify the batches to be produced before the vaccination begins.
