According to the Presidency, the Vacutur Panama project seeks to promote the revival of the national economy, particularly tourism, providing visitors with accommodations for a minimum of two nights at hotels registered with the Tourism Authority, which has more than 60 companies dedicated to this activity.
Although it is not clear when the initiative will take effect, Ernesto Orillac, president of the National Chamber of Tourism in Panama, recently told Telemetro Reporta that the plan could be implemented for the last quarter of 2021.
By early October, health authorities expect to complete the Covid-19 vaccination scheme of the population, Orillac stated.
To date, Panama has accumulated 463,086 Covid-19 contagions and 7,159 deaths. On Wednesday, the European Union approved Panama’s Covid-19 Digital Vaccination Certificate, which will allow that all citizens and foreign residents with a complete vaccination scheme can present the document to travel to the member countries of the community bloc.
