The newspaper reproduced statements made by Information Minister George Kordahi, in charge of drafting the political declaration the cabinet discussed during the last three days.
It took less than a week to reach a consensus among the 24 members of the executive, included sensitive issues such as the case of the armed wing of Hezbollah or Party of God, which has two ministries in the future government lineup.
It is obvious, Kordahi said, the desire to immediately address the country’s economic and financial crisis, as a result of which more than half of its six million inhabitants have fallen below the poverty line, estimated at 3.64 dollars a day.
According to the information minister, the 24-ministry government that ended 13 months of stagnation will appear before Congress early next week to seek a vote of confidence.
