In his speech, the Cuban head of State pointed out that over the years, both countries have honored their sovereign policies regardless of proximity or similarities between the governments.
‘The decision to invite us is of infinitely greater value because it comes in a time when we suffer a multidimensional war with an opportunistically intensified criminal blockade with more than 240 measures amid the Covid-19 pandemic,’ he stressed.
The Cuban leader recalled that Mexico ‘was the only country in Latin America that did not break relations with revolutionary Cuba when we were expelled from the OAS (Organization of American States) by an imperial order.’
President Diaz-Canel expressed the Cubans’ admiration for the people of Mexico, and his appreciation for Mexico’s shows of support against Washington’s hostile policy on Cuba.
