United Kingdom reiterates rejection of US blockade against Cuba

London, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) The undersecretary of State for the European Neighborhood and the Americas, Wendy Morton, reaffirmed the United Kingdom's opposition to the United States blockade against Cuba at the British Parliament.

According to the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, when responding in writing to a question asked by Labor lawmaker Zarah Sultana, the official stated that the British government opposes this unilateral measure imposed by Washington for almost six decades. We have consistently voted in favor of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly that calls to end the embargo, recalled Morton, who pointed out that the United Kingdom considers secondary unilateral sanctions such as the activation of Titles III and IV of the Helms-Burton law are contrary to international law.

She added that London has also made its position clear at meetings with US officials at the British Embassies in Washington and in London.

According to the undersecretary of State, on August 11, members of the Department of Latin America at the British Foreign Ministry discussed the question of the blockade against Cuba with their counterpart in the US Department of State.
