British unions strongly reject US blockade against Cuba

London, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of UK´s major unions reiterated their rejection of the unilateral blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, and also vowed to go on calling for the lifting of this illegal measure.

In a virtual event organized by the Campaign for Solidarity with Cuba, on the sidelines of the national conference of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the country’s largest trade union center, lawmaker Navendu Mishra also rejected the US blockade.

Cuba is an example of solidarity, and we join the international call for the lifting of the US blockade, claimed Mariela Kohon, TUC´s International Affairs Director.

Ms. Kohon recalled that in the 2019 congress, which Guilarte attended as a guest of honor, a motion was approved in support of Cuba and condemning the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States for over 60 years.

The Secretary-General of the Communications Workers Union Dave Ward said that President Joe Biden failed to fulfill his campaign promises to reverse the additional sanctions imposed by his predecessor Donald Trump to tighten the blockade.
