In statements to Prensa Latina, the official highlighted the role played by Venezuela as the country that has provided further support to Cuba in the economic, financial, political and diplomatic fields, in a complex scenario marked by the tightening of the United States blockade and the Covid-19 pandemic.
In light of the worsening of the health situation, the Bolivarian Government authorized the temporary return of Cuban collaborators in Venezuela to reinforce the fight against Covid-19 in Cuba.
More than 1,200 Cuban medical professionals have returned home over the last few months before ending their mission, in order to offer their services, said Garcia, who stressed that this is the first time that a similar event has occurred in the history of Cuba’s international collaboration.
As part of the solidarity aid, the Venezuelan Government sent several shipments of medical supplies, biosecurity implements and food to Cuba.
