Venezuelan foreign minister accuses Colombia of exporting violence

Caracas, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia on Sunday accused the Government of Colombia of exporting violence and war to Latin America.

In response to accusations by President Ivan Duque, concerning Venezuela’s involvement in the attacks on the Colombian military, the foreign minister pointed out that that nation is responsible for a 70-year-long war that it wants to spread to the continent.

‘We reject the slanders and unfounded false accusations by Ivan Duque. It is from Colombia, the mercenary factory, that the region and other latitudes are destroyed. It is the cradle of violence, from where its own people are threatened,’ the head of Venezuelan diplomacy tweeted.

He recalled that the frustrated assassination against President Nicolas Maduro in August 2020 was planned in Colombia, as well as the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise, where mercenaries from the Colombian Army were directly implicated.

In the same way, he emphasized, mercenaries who are paid by the United States and the Venezuelan right wing were part of the failed Gideon operation, whose objective was to destabilize Venezuela, and kidnap and kill Maduro, and were trained in Colombia.

‘Using Venezuela to divert the attention of those who denied peace to the Colombian people is irresponsible and shows the biggest cynicism,’ the head of Venezuelan diplomacy stressed.
