At 7:45 a.m. local time, the Alitalia plane A-320, which transported Peter’s successor from Rome on the thirty-fourth international voyage of his pontificate, landed in this capital.
During his stay, Pope Francis was received by the President of the Republic, Janos Ader, and Prime Minister Victor Orban, before holding separate meetings with Catholic bishops and representatives of the Ecumenical Council of Churches and some Jewish communities.
Later, he will leave for Slovakia, where he will have an intense program of activities in the capital, Bratislava, and the cities of Kosice, Presov and Sastin, until September 15.
