Due to the health crisis, UN´s working methods were transformed and digital technologies were used to hold meetings and events, Mr. Bozkir recalled at a press conference.
The UN in general was not prepared to face emergency situations such as a pandemic and it is still urgent to create more alternatives in order to maintain its vitality in the face of any disruption, he said.
Although technology allowed our work to continue, in-person interaction is all-important for diplomacy, so UNGA held face-to-face meetings, taking all necessary precautionary measures.
In fact, Mr. Bozkir stated, many world leaders mean to attend in person the upcoming UN´s High-Level Session, to be held soon.
He insisted that multilateralism is the best option to find out solutions to global issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic, but during the last year some nations plump for unilateral actions.
In this regard, he urged to guarantee an equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccines around the world to finally put an end to the health crisis.
