401 irregulars were pardoned in the last few hours, some of them deserters from military service, who laid down around 120 weapons and a large amount of ammunition, officials said.
They also reported that the deadline given to the insurgents to normalize their status expires this Wednesday, and once the deadline has passed, troops and security forces will be deployed in six points in the Deraa al-Balad neighborhood, the main enclave of the radicals in the capital of the province.
Likewise, the national flag will be hoisted over government institutions and headquarters, and the authority of the State will be fully recovered in the area.
According to the sources, the success of the agreement depends on the compliance of the armed groups and should they interrupt the agreement once again, an operation will be launched to eradicate the hostiles in the area.
The implementation of the arrangement was interrupted on several occasions after the irregularities’ refusal to comply with all its provisions.
Syrian authorities denounced that the radicals’ refusal came after the US embassy in Damascus published statements on the matter on its website that were interpreted as orders.
