‘The PP has been ‘kidnapping’ the General Council of Judicial Power (CGPJ) for 1,000 days and a week. We are clearly facing a historical anomaly that evidences the profoundly anti-democratic nature of the People’s Party and its deep contempt for the Rule of Law,’ IU stated.
IU spokeswoman and legislator Sira Rego lamented the attitude by Carlos Lesmes, president of the CGPJ and the Supreme Court, ‘to apportion blame about the very long blockade of the highest judicial body he himself leads.’
The spokeswoman remarked that the right wing, headed by the party Pablo Casado leads, is the one that ‘if it does not control the institutions, is directly dedicated to sabotage them.’
Rego was particularly referring to the proposal presented several months ago by Unidas Podemos alliance to create a public energy company to deal with the increase in electricity price.
Rego considered normal to give rise to a debate on the creation of a public company to compete with the private oligopoly, as IU already raised even before that electricity price rose.
