The public utility company in charge of maintaining the green areas of the Goloseyevsky urban district of Kiev complied with the decision of the City Council, approved on July 8th.
The monument was erected in August 2001 and survived several attempts to take it down, and f remained stained with paint as a result of vandalism for a long time.
Moscow has complained on repeated occasions about the anti-Russian policy of the current Ukrainian government. On September 4th, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov stated that the Russophobic approach predominates in Kiev politics.
