Anti-Covid-19 drug made from blood plasma to be tested in China

Beijing, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) A Chinese pharmaceutical company will begin clinical trials of a Covid-19 drug, developed from the blood plasma of patients who have recovered from that disease and vaccinated individuals, local press informed on Monday.

According to Global Times, the medicine was obtained by the China National Biotec Group Company and it contains a high concentration of neutralizing antibodies of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the disease.

During animal testing, a rapid response of the immune system was shown, even in severe stages.

The company, a subsidiary of Sinopharm, developed the drug after the Government approved last year the blood plasma as one of the effective therapies to treat Covid-19.

Apart from that drug, the China National Biotec Group Company designed a new generation of vaccines specially to treat cases of people infected with the Delta and Beta variants of SARS-CoV-2.

China uses vaccines from this and other companies, such as Sinovac and CansinoBio, in the massive immunization campaign, has already administered more than two billion doses to nationals and foreigners, and has also exported almost one billion doses since last year.
