On Twitter, UNICEF posted that a great number of Haitian families continue facing up desperate conditions.
UNICEF estimates that about 1.2 million Haitian people, including 540,000 children, have been affected by the powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake, causing hospitals, schools and houses to collapse.
Children and their families urgently need health care and clean water. Those who are displaced need shelter, UNICEF said.
In addition, children who have been separated from their families amid the chaos need more protection.
UNICEF staff is on the ground to assess present situation and working with other humanitarian partners to help keep children and families safe.
