Mexico continues decreasing impact of Covid-19 in the country

Mexico, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Mexico continued decreasing the impact of Covid-19 by confirming in the last hours only 5,564 cases compared to more than 20,000 15 days ago, the Ministry of Health reported today.

Deaths also fell by registering 326 for a total of three million 341 thousand 264 people who had gotten ill, the Ministry’s updated report indicated.

The trend of the epidemic curve continued to decline: minus 17 percent between August 15 and 21, compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, active cases were also reduced to 108,641.

Regarding hospitalizations, the report indicates that 50 percent of general beds and 45 percent of those with ventilators are occupied.

Concerning vaccination, the report indicates that from December 24 to the end of August, 57 million 547 thousand 462 people have received at least one dose against Covid-19, representing 64 percent of the population over 18 years of age.

From the total, 58 percent, that is, 33 million 620 thousand 717 people, have a complete scheme, and 42 percent, that is, 23 million 926 thousand 745 are new ones.

Mexico has 127 million inhabitants, but around 118 million will be vaccinated because for children under 18 years of age it has not yet been approved.
