At a press conference, the Russian minister pointed out that events in that country show ‘that we are doing the right thing,’ and in that regard, he recalled that when the conflict in that Eurasian nation began to escalate, the CSTO countries carried out joint military maneuvers.
Shoigu explained that Moscow conducted exercises with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan near the Afghan border, Sputnik news agency reported.
He warned that another threat to the CSTO member countries is the possibility that insurgent groups from Afghanistan could enter the territories of neighboring countries, in addition to the danger posed by the boom in drug trafficking.
The CSTO is made up of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
