In a communiqué, the alliance formed by prominent personalities, among them two presidents in office, made a strong alert call to the international community ‘in the face of the multiple and tireless actions of the right wing and some sectors of the Armed Forces that are creating a propitious environment to legitimize a coup d’état.’
The rupture of the political stability achieved in the latest elections would have profound impacts on the reactivation of the economy and the reconstruction of the social fabric after Covid-19, the progressive group specified.
Likewise, the alliance, founded in 2019 in the Mexican city of Puebla, expressed confidence that the Peruvian people will defend their democracy and the initiatives for change of the progressive forces.
They know that Peru needs a deep change that could be legitimized through a constituent process as proposed by President Castillo, the Puebla Group concluded.
