It is not possible to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians based on the two-State solution as long as Bennett, known for his ultra-nationalist positions, controls power, the foreign minister stressed in an interview to Channel 11 TV.
Lapid affirmed that there is no agreement on the issue in the governmental alliance and therefore it is impossible for it to happen, although he left the door open once he assumes the position now held by Bennett. As part of the coalition agreement, the prime minister, who also leads the ultranationalist Yamina party, will be replaced in 2023 by the current foreign minister, who heads the Blue and White political alliance.
The alliance is made up of eight seats with very different ideological positions, but united by their rejection to the return to power of former head of Government Benjamin Netanyahu, accused of several corruption charges.
