The call was made during a meeting in Ramallah, the administrative capital of the Palestinian National Authority, between Shtayyed and Els Debuf, head of the ICRC mission in Jerusalem.
According to the text, the official recalled that this group of Palestinian prisoners should have been released as part of an agreement between the two parties, but Tel Aviv authorities retracted in 2014.
Likewise, Shtayyeh urged the ICRC to follow up the health condition of the Palestinians in hunger strike in Israeli jails.
Some 4,850 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons, more than 220 of which are minors.
