Lebanese president accuses parties of hindering government

Beirut, Aug 19 (Prensa Latina) Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Thursday accused, without identifying, some parties that are trying to prevent the formation of a next government and lead the country to chaos.

In recent days, Aoun and appointed Prime Minister Najib Mikati showed optimism over a swift appointment of a cabinet to save the nation from the worst financial and economic crisis in decades.

However, the prospect of an agreement between both of them seems vanished.

The press release explained that Aoun and Miqati are working on their differences, but other groups have increased their demands for positions in the future cabinet, seeking the resignation of the appointed prime minister.

Forming a cabinet is a first step to elude the announced collapse of Lebanon, which is really close due to fuel shortage.

Meanwhile, the media office of the presidency notified that the United States decided to support Lebanon, the so-called country of cedars, in the energy supply.

The plan is to provide Egyptian natural gas to Jordan to generate additional electricity that could be transmitted to Lebanon through Syria.
