The terrorist cell members were arrested when ‘they carried out anti-constitutional activities based on the doctrine of the creation of the so-called world caliphate, the destruction of the institutions of the secular society and aimed at violently overthrowing the current Government,’ the FSB stated in a communique.
The text indicated that the members of the organization conspired to ‘spread terrorist ideology among the inhabitants of the peninsula, recruiting Muslims from Crimea into its ranks,’ stated the note released by TASS news agency.
A significant amount of prohibited Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami propaganda, communications and digital media was seized from the detainees’ residences.
The security services stated that criminal cases were opened against those involved and the operational investigations are currently continuing.
