At an international press conference from the Miraflores Palace, President Nicolás Maduro doubled down on the country´s will to resume bilateral ties between both nations, after they broke diplomatic relations in response to Washington’s hostile policy on Caracas.
‘Everything would be easier if there was a bit of good sense in the elites ruling the United States,’ said Maduro, while expressing the need for the opening of direct talks with the Joe Biden administration.
Maduro called for the immediate lifting of unilateral coercive US measures as a pivotal premise to move on agreements with the Venezuelan opposition.
Maduro stressed that the economic US sanctions brutally impact on Venezuela´s social life and are a silent bombardment over humble people, as part of its strategy for a regime change in Venezuela.
‘The United States will have to lift its sanctions, but while it happens, we must activate all the country´s productive economic engines,’ Maduro stressed.
