Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made this statement to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, while they analyzed in a phone call the situation in the Central Asian country.
The diplomat regretted that the withdrawal of the US military troops caused a deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan and insisted that Washington adopts a responsible attitude instead of creating new problems.
Wang assured that China is willing to strengthen communication with the White House in order to avoid that a new war or a humanitarian disaster break out, after expressing hope to erase all forms of terrorism and allow that the Afghan people can rebuild their country. Blinken spoke with Wang after contacting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, also with the purpose of examining the events occurred in Afghanistan, where the Taliban movement declared the end of the war and took Kabul, the capital.
On Monday, Beijing called for a political settlement that is inclusive and acceptable to all Afghan people, but also promotes lasting peace.
