The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) stated in a communique that the new figure represents a decrease of 2.3 percentage points compared to the same period in 2020, when it was 9.6 percent.
According to CAPMAS, the number of jobs decreased in 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak and the consequent mobility restrictions implemented to fight the pandemic.
The text indicates that more than 2.1 million people were jobless in this nation in the second quarter of 2021.
Meanwhile, the number of employed people in that period amounted to 27 million, 11.5 of them are urban workers and the remainder are rural workers, CAPMAS highlighted.
