Leader asks in Trinidad and Tobago for end to blockade against Cuba

Port of Spain, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) The leader of the Social Justice Movement in Trinidad and Tobago, David Abdulah, stood for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, local media highlighted today.

Abdulah said that ending that hostile policy of more than 60 years would be an act of humanity that would allow Cubans to better protect themselves against the ravages of Covid-19 pandemic, NewsDay daily reported.

Cuba cannot buy in the market syringes, ventilators or other supplies necessary for the treatment of people infected with the disease, the Trinidadian politician denounced.

If president of the United States, Joe Biden, is concerned about humanity as he says then the humanitarian thing is to end the blockade, he added.

Abdulah delivered an open letter to the Washington embassy in Port of Spain, in which he conveyed to the president his concern about the continued harassment against Cuba. The letter was signed by several locals, who also demanded the end of the siege against the island, according to NewsDay.
