Russian ministry sends 70 tons of humanitarian aid to Donbass

Moscow, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) Russia's Emergencies Ministry has sent a new convoy with almost 70 tons of humanitarian aid for the Donbass residents, in eastern Ukraine, local press highlighted on Thursday.

According to the communique by Russian authorities, the transport is carried out in accordance with the international legislation for the supply of humanitarian cargo.

Since August 2014, Moscow has been moving shipments of humanitarian assistance to these territories in contempt of Kiev authorities, Sputnik news agency reported.

During these six years, more than 100 Russian caravans have traveled to eastern Ukraine with more than 85,000 tons of cargo to help the population of this region.

Since April 2014, Kiev has deployed a military operation against the militias in the eastern region of its territory, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics were proclaimed in rejection to the violent change that took place in the country in February of that year.

The Minsk Accords, signed in September 2014 and February 2015, paved the way for a political solution to the conflict, but they have not been complied with by the Ukrainian authorities, which is why hostilities continue in the region.
