The Center for the Development of Relations between Belgrade and Havana issued a press release signed by its president, Dragan Kamenica, joining the celebration, and ratified the sincere desire that Cuba continue its safe passage with the legacy of the late president.
‘(Fidel Castro Ruz), one of the most impressive leaders of the 20th century, will be remembered in history as a fighter for freedom, fairness and equality. His unique figure is a shining example of faith in leftist ideas. With his struggle against imperialism, he gave a lesson in resistance and a guide for the entire free world,’ Kamenica said.
He added that Castro’s name is identified with perseverance, firmness and courage in the defense of justice.
The official denounced the use of communiqués and direct attacks in recent events with the aim of destabilizing Cuba and openly calling for foreign intervention.
In expressing his position in this regard, Kamenica stressed that ‘the Republic of Cuba, as a sovereign State, must independently resolve the possible problems and the different opinions that its citizens have the right to express, exclusively as internal issues, in which no one should get involved.’
He stressed that Cuba, like no other in recent political history, has been exposed to sanctions from the United States for more than 60 years, which has caused great problems to sustain the economy and life in general.
