Japan reports current account surplus in June

Tokyo, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) Japan reported a surplus in the current account balance of 6,991 billion euros in June, although it had a decrease of 54.2 percent compared to May, according to preliminary data published by the Finance Ministry.

According to the Ministry, the trade balance (a component of the balance of payments) reached a favorable balance of about five billion euros in June, in contrast to the deficit of 132 million Euros reported a year ago.

Exports grew 47.7 percent year-on-year up to approximately five billion euros, while imports rose 33.8 percent, to 50 billion euros.

For its part, the balance of services had a negative balance of 2.675 billion euros, 24.2 percent higher than in 2020.

The current account surplus is the positive balance produced by exceeding exports of goods and services together with transfers received, to imports and transfers delivered.
