On his Twitter account, the president described as very regrettable this situation, which occurs in the context of a ‘strong rebound and appearance of the delta variant.’
‘Numbers preoccupy and occupy. With experts and scientists we analyze measures to further protect them,’ he said.
The head of State recalled that in 2020, no pregnant woman in Cuba died of Covid-19.
‘Cuba, from science, has been able, in an innovative and altruistic way, to respond to the challenges of COVID-19, through the harsh conditions imposed by the blockade of the United States,’ he added.
At a meeting with the country’s top officials, Noemí Causa, head of the Mother-Child Program at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), reported on the measures to protect pregnant and postpartum women, as well as care for pregnant women at risk.
It was also reported at the meeting that scientists continue to study the impact of the Delta strain and the increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths.
