Russian fighters bomb terrorist headquarters in northwestern Syria

Damascus, Aug 10 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Aerospace Force launched an offensive against bases of the terrorist organization Junta for the Liberation of the Levant, formerly al-Nousra Front, in the northern Syrian province of Idlib, on Tuesday.

A control and operational headquarters of this group, which has been listed as an international terrorist organization, was completely destroyed in the town of Seikh Baker, and all radicals inside the shelter were eliminated, activists told Al-Watan newspaper.

Other extremist positions in the Al-Zawiah plateau, south of Idlib, were targeted in similar attacks that left several armed men neutralized.

The purpose of these anti-terrorist bombings, according to media reports, is to exert pressure on the Turkish Government to implement the agreement signed with Moscow on March 5, 2020, which stipulates the reopening of the M-4 road between the provinces of Latakia and Aleppo, and to remove the terrorist presence from it, which has not yet been fulfilled by Ankara.

At the same time, the Syrian Army’s artillery shelled the radicals entrenched in the towns of Kenfara, Fatira and Safouhen, close to the government-controlled areas.

In 2020, the Syrian Army managed to liberate 56 percent of Idlib, 320 kilometers north of Damascus, so the terrorists currently control less than half of the region, where they hold hundreds of thousands of civilians as human shields and constantly violate the ceasefire.
