According to the news website, the incidents occurred in Moito district and resulted in 22 deaths among farmers and herders who were vying a territory in Zafaye.
The peasants state that this is a farming area, while the shepherds try to turn it into a place to feed their livestock.
The clashes took place amid an increase in these kinds of incidents in the country, as well as in other areas of the Sahel region and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Government sent a three-minister delegation to Hadjer-Lamis province to address the conflict and try to ease tensions, ordered to deploy more security forces to contain the clashes and detain those carrying firearms, and suspended the use of the disputed land.
Clashes between farmers and herders are recurrent in several African countries due to the effects of climate change.
