According to reports from Al-Jadeed television network, Aoun insists on changing the rotation of the so-called sovereign Ministries of the Interior, Finance, Defense and Foreign Affairs.
And Mikati advocates for keeping the current distribution, Interior is with a Sunni Muslim; Finance with a Shiite Muslim, and Defense and Foreign Affairs with a Christian.
Aoun and Makati have held six meetings since July 26 with the priority agenda of the cabinet nomination, but the solution has not emerged so far.
Mikati aims to set up an executive of 24 ministries without affiliation to political parties to implement reforms to save the country from a total collapse, an initiative suggested by French President Emmanuel Macron.
However, that formation cannot ignore a confessional sectarian distribution established by the Constitution and the Taif Agreement that ended the civil war that broke out in 1975 and ended in 1990.
