Countries of the European Union (EU) mobilized 14 planes and three helicopters, 1,300 firefighters and 250 vehicles in order to support those nations to extinguish the fires, the community executive said in a statement.
In Greece, nine planes were deployed by France, Sweden, Croatia, Spain and Cyprus, as well as nearly 1,000 firefighters and 200 vehicles.
Several EU member States (France, Germany, Poland, Austria and Slovakia) noted that last weekend they prepared supplementary fire crews to Greece, where they will join others already on the ground from Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Romania and France, the EC explained.
