The maneuvers will last until Friday at a base in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region (north), and involve more than 10,000 troops and multiple air and ground teams.

This is the first exchange of this kind between the two powers in 2021 and, according to local authorities, is a reflection of the level of their comprehensive strategic partnership, mutual trust and coordination.

China and Russia recently extended the Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation signed 20 years ago and considered a milestone because it allowed their governments to strengthen communication.

They coordinated positions against hegemony and manipulation of the international order at a time of renewed hostility by the United States and the European Union, agreed to fight misinformation campaigns and to support each other in maintaining stability in the areas surrounding the two countries.

As a new development, Moscow and Beijing considered it relevant to discuss the possible recognition of vaccines developed in each country to oppose the politicization of the issue and to join forces in the endeavor to provide these products to poor nations.

Among other things, they proposed holding a summit of permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to facilitate direct dialogue and discussion of solutions to problems that all human beings are facing.
