Erdogan receives Libyan Prime Minister in Istanbul

Ankara, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received today Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh in the city of Istanbul.

The two leaders held a meeting behind closed doors for an hour and a half without revealing -for the moment- the issues discussed, according to a report by the Communications Directorate quoted by the Anatolia news agency.

Later they are scheduled to attend a meeting of the delegations of the two countries, the source added.

Turkey, as a regional emerging power, strengthened its ties with the North African country especially after the signing of security and maritime boundary pacts in November 2019.

Likewise, Ankara is helping the United Nations (UN)-recognized government to stop the instability triggered by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s aggression in 2011, which led to the assassination of President Muammar al-Gaddafi.
