At least 12 military bases were established by the United States, mostly in the oil and gas fields, mainly in Hasakeh province, while maintaining an enclave in Tanef area, on the border with Iraq, to ​​prevent any land communication between these two countries.

Damascus repeatedly denounced that illegal presence of US troops encourages terrorist and separatist activity, in addition to depriving the Syrian people of wealth through the looting of wheat and oil.
