Although the number of today’s contagions decreased by 964 compared to the previous day, the 93 deaths reported in the last 24 hours show the complex epidemiological situation in Cuba, Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), said in his regular press briefing on television.
Dr. Duran stated that 8,375 of the new patients are autochthonous cases and 24 are imported.
The expert explained that 100,823 active patients are in hospitals or their homes nationwide, including 50,961 suspected cases, 4,230 under epidemiological surveillance and 45,632 active patients with the coronavirus.
To date, 45,225 patients are clinically stable, 150 are in a critical condition and 257 are seriously ill.
Dr. Duran explained that with these statistics, Cuba has accumulated 431,013 Covid-19 contagions and 3,184 deaths since March 11, 2020, when the pandemic broke out in the country.
