Venezuela’s Public Ministry rejects interference by OAS

Caracas, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela's Public Prosecutor's Office rejected on Wednesday the attempt of the Organization of American States (OAS) to interfere in the preliminary examination of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on a case related to the country.

On a statement published on Twitter, Attorney General Tarek William Saab dismissed the approaches of a panel of experts of the OAS, which called on the ICC to open an investigation for alleged crimes against humanity committed in Venezuela.

In that sense, the Attorney General recalled that in previous occasions the regional organization tried to pressure the Court with the purpose of influencing the good development of international justice.

Saab reiterated the willingness of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to provide fruitful cooperation with the ICC in the framework of a fair and equal treatment, which has not occurred -he assured- with the preliminary examination in the Venezuela I case, on alleged human rights violations by the State.

Likewise, the official highlighted the pronouncement of the Preliminary Chamber of the Court on the need to maintain a constructive dialogue with Venezuela, in accordance with the principle of complementarity.

Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza rejected on Wednesday the attempts of the OAS to interfere in Venezuela’s internal affairs, in adherence to the US hostile policy against that nation.

‘The OAS, under the leadership of its current ‘General Hitman’ (Secretary General Luis Almagro), has plenty of experts in coups d’état, invasions, interference, promotion of conflict, submission to Washington and multilateral corruption,’ asserted the head of Venezuela’s diplomacy on Twitter.
