Cuba does not give up gradual economic recovery (+Photos)

Havana, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) Despite the complexity of the current scenario and the exceptional situation generated by Covid-19, Cuba has not given up the gradual recovery of its economy, Deputy Prime Minister Alejandro Gil said on Wednesday.

Gil, who is also the minister of Economy and Planning, referred to the subject at a meeting with researchers, professors and students linked to these sciences, and headed by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, according to the Presidency’s Twitter account.

The purpose of the meeting, held at the headquarters of the National Association of Economists and Accountants (ANEC), was to gather proposals and analyze new contributions to find solutions to the country’s problems.

This is the first of several similar meetings scheduled for the week, in order to listen to the opinions of people from different sectors.

The use of science and the attention to experts’ criteria have become a government strategy, widely used in the confrontation with Covid-19 and later extended to other branches such as agriculture, energy and industry.

On Tuesday, the president held a meeting with scientists involved in the fight against the pandemic, who proposed actions to reinforce the national protocols, with emphasis on the organization of health services and prevention.

The experts insisted on the importance of strengthening community care, given the increase in positive, severe, critical cases and deaths due to complications associated with the disease.
